Orientation Problems

Post by nmabbot1 »

When i set up my camera for an overhead desk shot, Control My Nikon makes the orientation vertical, but i want it horizontal. The only way I've found to fix this is to angle the camera further, but then it's not perpendicular to my desk.

I have already turned off auto rotate on my camera and that hasn't worked.

Any help would be incredible. My trial is almost up and i don't know if i want to buy this or not!

If I angle the camera this much, then the orientation is how i want it to be.

This is how the software orients the view when the camera is level.

The camera will attempt to auto-orient image based on the orientation sensor readings, but if it is mounted perfectly vertical, this confuses the sensor and it can flip around to different orientations. The only workaround for this is as you found, is to not have it perfectly vertical.

You can manually override the live view orientation in the ControlMyNikon orientation tab, but this won't stop the flipping in vertical orientations, and won't affect the final captured imaged.
