Multiple shutter actuations

I'm using a Nikon D810 and it occasionally (more often at the moment) takes two shots each time I click the capture button. I'm not sure how to stop and it seems to occur at random intervals. Normally not an issue but right now the image numbers are attached to a certain subject and the double actuation throws everything off.
