Axis Modifiers?

With DirectInput, could you have new virtual output axes based on modifier keys? Like shift-T/R XYZ or ctrl- T/R XYZ. Thinking about how that would be useful in MS FS 2020. Shift- could be assigned to trim adjustments (cruise, rudder, flaps). Ctrl- could be to look about the cockpit or external view. Alt- brakes, throttle... etc.
