Problem capturing photo

I have Connect My Nikon V:5.5.78.90 and have experienced this problem quite a bit.
I have a Nikon D5100 camera tethered with a good (new) USB cable.
CMN connects and functions OK except for one BIG thing. From time to time it won't save the shot to the computer even though I can control the camera totally. Other times it works as it should. Nothing has been changed between these when it saves and when it doesn't.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue as it's frustrating. I use this setup to make macro photos of my scale products to put on my product website. It's frustrating tying to get these done.
